Welcome to my blog. My name is Samuel N. Omwenga, Esq., originally and ultimately from Kenya. I enjoy reading and writing and started this blog to express my views on social-economic and political developments in Africa, with particular emphasis on Kenya. I hope you find it interesting but either way, I encourage you to leave a comment. Please note my views are not necessarily your views but yours are definitely not mine because I don’t know what they are unless you tell me in which case I disagree with myself that your views are not necessarily mine unless, of course, you disagree which means we think alike.

Thanks K; I am a firm believer in objectivity, slanted as it might be at times. I also believe if we really stop and be critically analytical, things we disagree on are few but loom larger in peoples minds and lives. There is, however, nothing like disagreeing with someone on some issue or issues yet remain agreeable and friendly in all other issues. Given your kind comment, I think I am preaching to the choir!
Regarding a write up on Sirma, sure; I’ll certainly look into it.

Sir, I wonder whether you would take my letter here addressed to the President of the Republic of Kenya.
Please note that an Email to the President on NATIONAL SYMBOLS AND SOVEREIGNTY,dated 04/05/2011 via president@statehousekenya.go did not pay any divided.
There is something patriotic in the said email.
Any of your help to attempt reaching the President or atleast the Premier will be appreciated.

What I fail to understand, is how someone residing in the US of A can lay claim to being at par with events taking place in the contnent of Africa. Western nations have been culprits in proclaiming their vast knowledge of the African continent without really taking time to understand the continent’s peoples. I would take your views more seriously if you were ecking out a living in Kenya.

I blogged some time ago wondering which Kenyans, those living at home or those living in the diaspora are more informed and concluded absent a scientific study, this is not an easy question to answer.
However, based on what I know just from observations, there is no question more and more Kenyans in the diaspora are connected and know about the happenings at home than even five years ago.
This is not only because of advancement in technology making it easier and cheaper to keep in touch with the goings on at home for those so inclined, but there has also been a corresponding increase in the overall interest in people wanting to know and therefore seeking out information related to their motherland because of how long they have been in the US.
Many are now seriously thinking about permanently returning back home and therefore have a keen interest and stake about what’s going on there.
Some, like yours truly, nonetheless travel to Kenya several times a year so we are very conversant with what we talk about, having either witnessed it or know from reliable sources and others we interact both while at home and when away.
So, one should evaluate the views expressed by anyone not based on where they live, but whether they are sound as supported by facts or well reasoned arguments based on information accessible to all, be they at home or in the diaspora.

Thanks for your articles. But what I don’t understand is that you seem to be campaigning for Mr. Raila. Why don’t you write about nice upcoming leaders like Peter Kenneth?

Hello omwega, you are a very good writer but i am afraid you have a very narrow mind! you are too biased that you are danger to democracy. you are undoubtedly a dictator, i say so from the way you savage those whom you disagree with. you can not fold kenya into your little enveloped mind.
i have no doubt you are bent hell on raila’s presidency but you have come out as a big liability to his presidency. alternatively you are a jublee alliance suppoter acting as a raila supporter to woe voter with your bias urgument away from raila.
any way you are not serving kenya…………………let your strength not distroy kenya.
