About Samuel N. Omwenga, JD

I am originally and ultimately from Kenya. Upon graduation from Rutgers, the State University School of Law, Newark, I embarked on a private legal career as an attorney at my own firm and after more than 10 years of active practice in the Washington, DC area, I moved on to international business consulting assisting businesspeople and investors interested or doing business in Africa, Southeast Asia and the Caribbean. I also enjoy writing both professionally as a law writer and as a columnist and blogger mostly about politics. My Pet Peeve: Things that move slowly without a good reason.

My Column this Weekend and Note Re Tragic Death of General Ogolla and Others

Ogolla2

It is a sad day in Kenya and diaspora as everyone–well, nearly everyone is trying to make sense of the death of Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla.  A lot is being said especially in social media, but caution is to simply accept this was a tragic accident. However–and needless to say, a thorough investigation must be conducted to confirm and remove any doubt that it wasn’t an accident. The truth shall lie bare at the conclusion of the investigation, which by necessity must include how the investigation is conducted, meaning, a complete, unhindered and thorough investigation. Condolences to the family and friends and may the good general Rest in Peace. Ditto those who perished along with him.

Meanwhile, here is my column for this weekend published before the tragic event of yesterday.

Merger of ANC and UDA
